South Korean TV series or often called K-Drama, are increasingly attracting attention. The uniqueness of the story, the excitement of the plot to the row of actors playing the drama, makes the TV series from the ginseng country continue to have a special place.
As it turns out, apart from being inspired by various stories and social conditions in South Korea, many Korean dramas are also produced with inspiration from TV series or works by artists from other countries. Here we share 4 K-Drama titles adapted from other countries’ series.
1. Playful Kiss
The drama aired in September 2010. Played by Kim Hyun Joon and Jung So Min, Playful Kiss is a Korean drama adapted from a Japanese manga titled Itazura na Kiss. In its home country, Kaoru Tada’s manga was first made into a TV series in 1996.
A romantic comedy genre, the story centers on the love story of Baek Seung Jo and Oh Ha Ni. Baek Seung Jo is described as a popular student who is handsome and smart, but arrogant and cold. On the other hand, Oh Ha Ni is an ordinary girl who is careless and does not have perfect academic grades.
Like other girls, Oh Ha Ni has her heart set on Baek Seung Jo. Although rejected, the woman did not give up fighting for her love. This Korean drama became one of the popular dramas of its time.
In fact, the broadcasting rights of this drama reached a total sales of up to 4 billion Won. The drama was also aired in several other countries, including Japan.
2. Criminal Minds
Criminal Minds is a Korean drama that aired in 2017. ThisK-Drama is adapted from the American TV series of the same name and aired in 2005.
With 20 episodes, the drama tells the story of a case investigation using the criminal’s point of view to solve the problem. Starring a variety of popular actors, such as Lee Joon Gi, Son Hyun Joo, Moon Chae Won, Yoo Sun, and Lee Sun Bin.
3. The World of The Married
Successfully attracting attention in mid-2020, this Korean drama about infidelity was adapted from a UK TV series titled Doctor Foster and aired in 2015.
The World of The Married revolves around the household of Ji Sun Woo (Kim Hee Ae) and Lee Tae Oh (Park Hae Joon). The household life, which has been blessed with a child, began to fall apart since the presence of a woman named Yeo Da Kyung (Han So Hee).
Throughout the 16 episodes, the drama continues to experience double-digit ratings in Seoul. Kim Hee Ae and director Mo Wan Il also officially took home awards at the 2020 BaekSang Arts Awads.

4. Family by Choice
Finally, there is one of the latest Korean dramas airing in October 2024, Family by Choice. This Korean drama is also adapted from the popular Chinese TV series titled, Go Ahead. It tells the story of 3 friends who are very close like a family.
After being separated for 10 years, they meet again and the love story that was delayed begins to roll back. The Korean version of the drama is played by Hwang In Yeop as Kim San Ha, Jung Chaeyeon as Yoon Joo Won, and Bae Hyun Sung as Kang Hae Joon.
